Vietnam joins the Apostille Convention: what changes

Published

What changed

Vietnam acceded to the Convention on 31 December 2025.1

Since 11 September 2026, a public document from Vietnam only needs an apostille to be used in another member country, and documents from other member countries only need an apostille to be used in Vietnam.1

Other member countries could object to the accession. Between Vietnam and a country that objected, the Convention does not apply, so check the specific pair of countries.1
